Pressing the rear crankshaft oil seal into the crankcase before cutting
Crankshaft mounted in rear main bearing (the rear oil seal is indicated by the arrow)
Free installation of the timing chain on the crankshaft
Checking the centering of the intermediate disk
1. Place the upper half of the rear crankshaft oil seal into the crankcase groove. After installation, the ends of the oil seal should protrude by 0.5 mm. Insert the oil seal using an oiled hammer handle and cut it to the required size.
2. Thoroughly clean the main bearing shell seats, crankshaft journals and the back surfaces of the shells.
3. Place the upper main bearing shells in the crankcase and lubricate them with oil.
4. Lower the crankshaft onto the bearing shells.
5. Insert the lower main bearing shells into their caps and lubricate them with oil.
6. Install the main bearing caps and insert their bolts. Make sure that the oil pump mounting bolt is on the front cover.
7. Lightly tighten all main bearing cap bolts, then tighten them sequentially and finally to the specified torque.
8. Make sure that the crankshaft rotates freely and that its displacement does not exceed the established limits.
9. Place the timing mechanism bracket on the cylinder block, install the lubrication system pressure reducing valve and tighten the plugs.
10. Loosely install the camshaft target on the crankshaft, make sure the woodruff key is in its groove, and tap the timing gear sprocket so that the chain can be put on it. If the sprocket was difficult to remove, heat it to 80°C before installing it.
11. Install the intermediate plate to the rear of the cylinder block, insert and lightly tighten the bolts. Using a dial gauge, check the centering of the plate on the crankshaft, and then tighten the bolts completely.
12. Install the flywheel (leading disk), front crankshaft oil seal, camshaft sprocket(s) and pistons.
