Rear wheel hub section
1 - wheel drive shaft bolt; 2 - washer; 3 - bushing; 4 - bearing; 5 - hub body; 6 - hub
Dimensions of the mounting rod
1. Place chocks under the front wheels, raise the rear of the car and place it on stands.
2. Remove the rear brake disc. It is also recommended to remove the parking brake shoes, although this is not necessary.
3. Loosen the rear wheel hub center bolt and remove the spacer sleeve, if present.
4. Pull out the wheel hub drive shaft, set it aside and secure it.
5. Using a small chisel, chip away the castle nut lock on the inside end of the hub.
6. Lock the hub with the rod secured to it with bolts, then unscrew the nut with a crown wrench.
7. Remove the washer and seal.
8. Press the wheel hub using a mandrel or inertial puller, remove the inner bearing ring and the deformable spacer sleeve.
9. Remove the outer seal from the hub.
10. Using a soft metal punch, press the outer bearing races off the hub housing.
11. Remove the wheel bearing ring using a puller.
12. Wash the parts with kerosene and dry. Conduct a defect inspection and replace if necessary. Replace the bearing rings and rollers with traces of excessive wear or chipping. The left and right wheel hubs must not be interchanged, as they have oil drain threads. The hub shoulders are marked R (right) and L (left).
13. Using a mandrel, press the ring onto the wheel hub. Install the outer bearing rings into the hub housing in the same manner.
14. Apply a small amount of sealant to the seal seat, then press the new seal in place using a wooden block.
15. Pack the inner ring and rollers with high-melting grease, and also fill the inner cavity of the hub housing between the outer bearing rings with grease.
16. Install the new deformable spacer sleeve onto the wheel hub and insert the flange into the hub housing.
17. Slide the inner bearing ring onto the hub and, using light blows on the mandrel, press it until it stops against the deformable spacer sleeve.
18. Apply a small amount of sealant to the seat of the inner oil seal and press in the new oil seal using a mandrel.
19. Place the washer, screw on the castle nut and tighten it by hand.
20. Hold the wheel drive flange and tighten the castle nut until the axial play is 0.04-0.06 mm. If the castle nut is overtightened, the expansion sleeve must be replaced before further adjustment.
21. Lock the castle nut with caulking at two points.
22. Install the wheel drive shaft, insert the bolt (and a new spacer sleeve, if provided) and tighten it to the specified torque.
23. Install the parking brake shoes and brake disc, and then lower the vehicle.
