On M110 engines, the hydraulic pump is driven from the front end of the exhaust camshaft, and on M123 engines, from the front end of the intermediate shaft. In the event of a system malfunction, it must be checked by a Mercedes representative, as this requires special equipment.

1. To fill the system, fill the fluid reservoir to the maximum level mark, and then run the engine at high idle for about 1 minute. In this case, the rear of the car must be loaded with the weight of two passengers in the back seat or with a load of the same weight in the trunk. Stop the engine and add fluid to the reservoir. With a fully loaded car and a running engine, its level will drop to the bottom mark.
2. Removal and installation of parts of the system are not particularly difficult, however, any adjustment of the ride height must be carried out by a Mercedes representative.
