Removal and installation

1. Remove the valve cover (10).

2. Set the piston of cylinder number (1) to TDC

Caution! The engine must be rotated by the crankshaft in a clockwise direction. Do not rotate the engine by the camshaft, and do not rotate the engine in the opposite direction.

3. Fix the intake camshaft (12) using the locking pin (14) (hole A on the bearing cover No. 1 of the intake camshaft).

4. Remove the front cover (9) of the cylinder head.

5. Unscrew the drive shaft (13) of the intake camshaft (1), remove the drive chain guide (8),

6. Remove the high pressure pump (4).

7. Mark the position of the sprocket (5) relative to the chain.

9. Disconnect the chain wheel (5) of the exhaust camshaft drive (11) and remove it together with the chain. Hold the shaft with a wrench. When installing, replace the screws (7).

9. Unscrew the screw (3) securing the gear drive wheel (1) to the high-pressure fuel pump (4).

10. Remove the intermediate sprocket of the high-pressure pump drive together with the sleeve (2).

11. Install in reverse order. Check the position of the camshafts and adjust if necessary.

Tightening torques for threaded connections

Screw for fastening the chain wheel to the exhaust camshaft - 18 Nm.
