Anti-theft system (Mercedes-Benz Vito W638)

0
The anti-theft system (EDW) is automatically activated if the key is in the driver's door lock position for more than 1.5 seconds or the vehicle is locked by the remote radio control device. When the door is open, the EDW system does not turn on when locked. If the vehicle is locked again with the radio remote control within 5 seconds while the door is open, the EDW system is activated after the door is closed. Locking the vehicle via the door lock without activating the EDW system and then folding the key (for radio remote control device only) does not activate the EDW system. Activation of the EDW system is indicated by a single flash of all direction indicator lights. To check the functionality, when the EDW system is on, the control LED on the alarm mute button flashes. If the vehicle is unlocked from the outside via the driver's door or via the radio remote control, the EDW system is deactivated.

When unlocked via the front passenger door or the tailgate, an alarm is sounded. The alarm is triggered if, with the EDW system activated:
  • one door was open;
  • one door was unlocked from the inside;
  • the hood was raised;
  • the trailer wiring connector was disconnected (vehicles with a towing hitch and with a trailer attached before switching on the EDW system);
  • the car was unlocked with a key in a door other than the driver's door;
  • the key in the ignition was turned to position 2.

Audible alarm - an additional intermittent audible signal sounds for 25 seconds. Light warning signal: The direction indicators flash for about 4 minutes.

The sound and light alarm signals can be triggered manually by pressing the alarm mute key. Audible alarm: An additional intermittent audible signal sounds until the alarm is silenced. Alarm light: The direction indicators flash until the alarm goes off. Manually triggering the alarm/blocking the car - press the alarm off button on top once. The control LED on the switch flashes in time with the direction indicators. If all doors are closed, the car is completely locked. To turn off the alarm/unlock the car - press the alarm button on top again or unlock the car from the outside in the driver's door.
