The vehicle is equipped with airbags and seat belt tensioners for the driver's seat and optionally for the front passenger seat. The airbags are located under the decorative steering wheel cover and behind the instrument panel on the passenger side. The seat belt tensioners are located on the three-point seat belts on the driver's and front passenger's seat sides. When the ignition key is turned to position 1 or 2, the seat belt pretensioners and airbags are ready to operate. They work only with a frontal impact of a certain force.
When turning the key in the steering wheel lock to positions 1 and 2 to check the performance of the passive safety system (airbags and seat belt tensioners) the SRS warning light on the instrument panel comes on for about 4 seconds. If it does not light up, flashes or lights up while driving, there is a malfunction.
Attention! When the airbag deploys, a small amount of smoke is released. This smoke is not hazardous to health and does not indicate a vehicle fire. When inflated rapidly, the fabric structure of airbags can cause slight skin damage.
