As you probably already know, after a long trip at high speed, the engine should never be stopped immediately; it must be allowed to run for some time at idle speed. The reason for this is that when a hot engine is stopped quickly, the turbine shaft bearing can become so hot that the lubricant begins to burn. If this action is repeated, the turbine will jam.
The turbocharger is very sensitive to contamination, so special cleanliness must be observed during removal and installation.
