Candles, as well as nozzles, are located under the intake manifold, which must be dismantled to remove them. To turn out the candles, a ratchet wrench with a head equipped with an extension is required.
After removing the intake manifold, unscrew the nuts from the spark plugs. The nuts are not removable as they are built into the wire lugs. Then turn out the candles.
Before screwing in the candles, the hole in the prechamber and the candle channel can be cleaned of carbon deposits by a reamer of the appropriate diameter. Only standard Mercedes sweep is allowed. Apply grease to the reamer grooves. The stop on the reamer prevents damage to the ball pin in the antechamber. It must be remembered that it is not allowed to enter the sweep too deeply.
Before screwing in, apply graphite grease to the threads of the spark plug. Installation takes place in reverse order. Tighten the spark plugs to 20 Nm, wire ends to 4 Nm.
