Safety precautions when working with the engine management system (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
The fuel system is under pressure. Therefore, in places where the fuel system elements are disconnected, first place clean rags, then loosen the fastening point to reduce the pressure in the system.

The following requirements must be met:
  • do not touch or remove high voltage wires while the engine is running or while the starter is turning the crankshaft;
  • disconnect and connect fuel system pipes, ignition system wires, and measuring devices only when the ignition is off;
  • people with pacemakers are prohibited from working with electronic ignition systems;
  • the voltage in the primary windings of the ignition coils is 400 V. To avoid voltage "breakdowns", ensure reliable contact of the ignition coil holders;
  • when checking the compression in the cylinders, there should be no fuel injection.

Before starting repair and adjustment work, you should connect the device to the diagnostic connector and read the fault codes, as well as check the tightness of all vacuum connections for the possibility of additional air being sucked in.

Replace the clamps with new ones, with a tightening screw.

To ensure normal operation of the devices, the voltage of the on-board network must be at least 11.5 V.

If after repair the engine starts for a short time and then stops, the reason may be that the anti-theft system has blocked the control unit. In this case, it is necessary to read the fault codes and match them with the control unit. This work should be done in a specialized auto repair shop.
