Camshaft sprocket
Removing
1. Remove the auxiliary drive belt.
2. Remove the cylinder head cover.
3. Unscrew the drive chain tensioner.
4. If equipped, remove the self-levelling rear suspension pump from the cylinder head. Remove the sealing ring, gasket plate, unscrew the bolt and remove the pump drive bushing from the camshaft.
5. Set the piston of the first cylinder to top dead center and check that the alignment marks of the crankshaft and camshaft are aligned with the pointers. Using paint, apply alignment marks to the camshaft sprocket and drive chain link.
6. Unscrew the bolt and remove the sprocket from the camshaft.
Examination
1. Check the condition of the teeth on the sprocket. The teeth on the sprocket are symmetrical and if one side of the teeth is worn out, the sprocket must be replaced.
Installation
1. Check that the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft are aligned with the pointer. When installing a new camshaft sprocket, apply the alignment mark on it as on the old sprocket.
2. Aligning the marks, install the chain on the sprocket.
3. Install the sprocket onto the camshaft. In this case, the dowel pin on the camshaft flange must fit into the hole in the sprocket. Screw in the bolt and tighten it to the required torque.
4. If equipped, install the self-levelling rear suspension hydraulic pump drive bushing onto the camshaft and secure with the bolt to the specified torque. Install the spacer plate, O-ring, and hydraulic pump for the self-levelling rear suspension system.
5. Screw in the drive chain tensioner.
6. At the crankshaft pulley bolt, rotate the crankshaft one turn and check that the crankshaft and camshaft marks are aligned with the pointers.
7. Install the cylinder head cover.
8. Install the auxiliary drive belt.
Crankshaft sprocket
Removing
Attention! A puller is required to remove the sprocket from the crankshaft.
1. Remove the drive chain cover.
2. Remove the oil pan.
3. Remove the camshaft sprocket.
4. Remove the drive chain tensioner shoe, oil pump and spring from the pivot pin.
5. Unscrew the bolt and remove the sprocket together with the chain from the oil pump shaft.
6. Using paint, apply alignment marks to the crankshaft sprocket and drive chain link.
7. Using a puller, remove the sprocket and key from the crankshaft.
8. Remove the keyway from the crankshaft groove.
Examination
1. Check the condition of the teeth on the sprocket. The teeth on the sprocket are symmetrical and if one side of the teeth is worn out, the sprocket must be replaced.
Installation
1. Install a segment key into the groove of the crankshaft.
2. When installing a new crankshaft sprocket, apply an alignment mark on it in the same place as on the old sprocket.
3. Aligning the alignment marks, install the drive chain first on the crankshaft sprocket, and then on the camshaft sprocket.
4. Install the oil pump sprocket together with the chain and secure with the bolt, tightening it to the required torque.
5. Install the bushing, spring and shoe of the oil pump drive chain tensioner to the pivot pin.
6. Install the oil pan.
7. Install the drive chain cover.
