Removal



Front cable



Caution: When installing the front parking brake cable, a new cable-to-compensation plate bolt must be used.

1. Remove the driver's seat and center console.

2. Disconnect the cable from the parking brake pedal.

3. Disconnect the return spring and remove it from the compensation plate (see Fig. Location of the parking brake compensation mechanism components).

4. Remove the bolt that secures the rear of the front cable to the alignment plate. A new bolt must be used for installation.

5. Mark the location of the front parking brake cable, remove it from the mounting brackets and clips, and remove it.

Rear cable



Caution: When installing the rear cable, you must use a new bolt to secure the cable to the hub mounting element.

1. Remove the parking brake shoes from the corresponding wheel and disconnect the end of the cable from the sliding mechanism.

2. Remove the bolt securing the cable housing to the hub and remove the cable from the rear of the brake shield (see Fig. Location of the bolt securing the rear part of the parking brake to the rear hub fastener).

3. Disconnect the return spring and remove it from the compensation plate mounting bracket.

4. Remove the clip securing the front of the parking brake cable housing to the bracket on the underbody. Disconnect the cable from the compensating plate and remove it from under the vehicle (see Fig. Location of the rear parking brake cable mounting bracket).



Installation



Front cable



1. Installation is the reverse of removal. Use a new bolt to secure the rear of the cable to the alignment plate. Adjust the parking brake.

Rear cable



1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Use a new bolt to secure the cable to the hub mounting element. Adjust the parking brake.
