Three-cone synchronizing mechanism
The three-cone synchronizer mechanism for gear engagement is used in the SG-S 370 and SG-S 400 versions. An additional conical ring (3) installed between the friction ring (4) and the synchronizer locking ring (6), as well as a friction lining (5) secured to the friction ring (4), are the main distinguishing features of this type of synchronizer mechanism.
The main purpose is more efficient braking of a freely rotating gear wheel relative to the gear engagement clutch in order to equalize angular velocities when engaging a gear.
VN 4.030 Three-cone synchronizing mechanism: 1. The 2nd gear wheel rotates freely on the shaft; 2. Freely rotating 1st gear wheel on the shaft; 3. Conical ring; 4. Friction ring; 5. Friction lining; 6. Synchronizer locking ring; 7. Gear shift clutch; 8. Gear shift clutch hub; 9. Shaft; 10. Needle bearing
