Checking the brake system on a test bench



1. Measure the deceleration values for the service brake system

Caution: Check with engine running to ensure maximum vacuum gain.


Note: The permissible deviation from the maximum value in each case must not exceed 25%. The braking effect must be evident no later than after a quarter of the total pedal travel.


Attention: if there are deviations from the control values specified in the description of the work, it is necessary to find out and eliminate the cause (by separate order).

Examination

To check the specified systems, you need to perform the following steps.

1. Turn on the ignition.

2. Apply the parking brake.

3. Check the indicator lights.

3.1. When the ignition is turned on, all indicator lights should come on. The lamps listed below should go out after a few seconds: the indicator of the failure of the lighting lamps (1), the indicator light of the open doors (2), the indicator light of the driving beam (3), the indicator light of the fan failure (E-Box fan) (4), the indicator light of the electronic level maintenance system bodywork (5), indicator light for unbuckled seat belts (6), indicator light for brake pad wear (8), UM (9), indicator light for glow plugs (10), indicator light for acceleration control system (ASR) (11), indicator light for acceleration control system/electropneumatic active power control system (ASR/EPS) (12), indicator light for anti-lock braking system (ABS) (13), indicator light for engine diagnostics (14), indicator light for engine oil level control (15), indicator light for additional safety system (16), coolant temperature indicator light (17), coolant level indicator light (18), fuel filter contamination indicator light (19), fuel filter water indicator light (20), indicator light for contamination of the air filter (21), indicator light for the level of liquid in the window washer (22), indicator light for the level of brake fluid (23). fuel reserve indicator light (25).



Note: the duration of the indicator light (10) depends on the coolant temperature.

3.2. Start the engine.

Check the exterior lighting by turning on the side lights, low beam headlights, high beam headlights, fog lights, rear fog light, turn signals and their repeaters, hazard warning lights, brake lights and reversing lights one by one.

Windscreen wiper, front (rear) windscreen washer



Check the operation of the following devices:
  • front wiper at all speeds;
  • rear wiper;
  • front windshield washer;
  • rear window washer;
  • headlight washers.

Check the condition of the windshield wipers.
