Engine management system (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)

0
Engines of the OM611 and OM 612 family are high-speed engines with direct injection of diesel fuel into the cylinders, which are equipped with various types of turbochargers.

Features of the type system used on the described engines "Common Rail":
  • Application of direct fuel injection into engine cylinders.
  • Fuel metering using an electronic control system. In this case, the high-pressure fuel pump does not participate in fuel dosing and synchronization of fuel ignition processes. The task of the high-pressure fuel pump is to create in the fuel manifold (battery) high pressure required issued moment fuel pressure. The fuel injection pump control mechanisms are controlled by the electronic fuel injection control system.
  • The use of high-speed fuel injectors, which are controlled by an electronic fuel injection control system.
  • High efficiency of fuel injection control processes. This is made possible by the use of a high-speed digital processor, which is designed to generate control action on the executive bodies of the control system based on information received from a number of sensors.

Thus, the Common Rail system allows the implementation of fuel supply system operating modes that are not available to fuel supply systems with mechanical or electronic-mechanical regulation.

The direct injection diesel fuel system provides the following engine performance options depending on the power and the applied emission standard of harmful substances (this description is given for engines not equipped with a particulate filter):
