Features of the type system used on the described engines «Common Rail»:
- The use of direct fuel injection into the engine cylinders.
- Dosing of fuel using an electronic control system. At the same time, the high-pressure fuel pump does not participate in fuel dosing and synchronization of fuel ignition processes. The task of the injection pump is to create in the fuel manifold (accumulator) high pressure is the required published torque fuel pressure. The regulating mechanisms of the injection pump are controlled by the electronic fuel injection control system.
- The use of high-speed fuel injectors, which are controlled by an electronic fuel injection control system.
- High efficiency fuel injection control processes. This becomes possible due to the use of a high-speed digital processor, which is designed to generate a control action on the executive bodies of the control system based on information received from a number of sensors.
Thus, the Common Rail system makes it possible to implement operating modes of the fuel supply system that are inaccessible to fuel supply systems with mechanical or electronic-mechanical regulation.
The diesel direct injection system provides the following options for engine characteristics, depending on the power and the applied emission standard of harmful substances (this description is for engines not equipped with a diesel particulate filter):
- (code MC1): diesel engine OM646 DE 22LA, 65 kW (88 hp), at 3800 rpm, also with additional design codes (configuration):
- with MS3 code: Euro 3 version;
- with code MF8: low emission engine (EU3 Group 3).
- (MS2 code): Diesel engine OM646 DE22LA, 80 kW (109 hp), at 3800 rpm, also with additional design codes (configuration):
- with MS3 code: Euro 3 version;
- with code MF8: low emission engine (EU3 Group 3);
- with code MF4: low emission engine (EU4 Group 3).
- (MRZ code): diesel engine OM646 DE 22LA 110 kW (150 hp), at 3800 rpm, also with additional design codes (configuration):
- with MS3 code: Euro 3 version;
- with code MF8: low emission engine (EU3 Group 3);
- with code MF4: low emission engine (EU4 Group 3).
