Removal



1. Remove the piston.

2. Measure the gaps between the piston rings and the groove in the piston (see figure 2.52).

3. Remove the rings (see figure 2.53).

4. Measure the gap in the ring lock (see figure 2.54). Piston ring clearances are given in Table 2.2.



Installation



5. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Measure the width of the new rings. Set the rings to the same width. Install the cylindrical spring ring 5 with the lock at 180° from the lock of the oil scraper ring (arrow).
