Removal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Remove the engine protective cover.
3. Drain the oil from the engine.
4. Remove the cooling system radiator together with the front beam.
5. Remove the fan, generator drive belt, generator drive belt tensioner.
6. Remove the upper guide pulley 24 (figure 2.6).
7. Remove bracket 25 of the upper guide pulley.

8. Remove the cylinder head cover 4.
9. Remove the vacuum pump.
10. Remove the damper.
11. Unscrew the oil level indicator pipe to the cylinder head.
12. Loosen the power steering pump mounting bolts 12 (only on engines 602.984).
13. Remove the generator.
14. Unscrew the generator bracket 22.
15. Remove the compressor and its mounting bracket (only on engines 602.985).
16. Unscrew bolts 7 and remove the filter together with bracket 8.
17. Unscrew bolts 6 securing the timing chain cover to the cylinder head.
18. Unscrew bolts 17 together with nuts 9 securing the intermediate flange of the high-pressure fuel pump.
19. Unscrew bolts 11 securing the pan 10 along the perimeter of the timing chain cover 16.
20. Unscrew bolts 20 securing the timing chain cover to the cylinder block.
21. Remove the timing chain cover 16.
22. Replace sealing ring 26.

Installation
23. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. The sequence of tightening the timing chain cover mounting bolts is shown in the figure 2.7.
