With the wheel screwed on from underneath the car, grab the hinge 1 (figure 262) steering rod and shake it with force. A worn joint has increased axial play. If it exceeds 2 mm, the joint must be replaced.
When checking, the mudguards of the hinges should not have any visible damage. Since they cannot be replaced separately, the corresponding tie rod end must be replaced.
