Start the engine and set the wheels straight. As shown in the picture 261, turn the steering wheel slightly to one side and the other. If the play a is more than 30 mm, it is necessary to check the steering and all steering gear parts for excessive play. If it is determined that the cause of the play is a problem with the steering gear, it should be replaced with a new one. It is also possible to install a serviceable used steering mechanism.
