To replace the tensioner shoe, the camshaft drive cover must be removed (section 2.4). The shoe is replaced when the plastic coating on the work surface is worn out. Before installation, heat the shoe in water to 65°C.
Remove drive cover (section 2.4).
Remove the chain guide from the right cylinder head.
Mark with paint the position of the chain and the right camshaft sprocket, remove the sprocket from the right camshaft.
Unscrew the shoe axle plug and use a screwdriver or M8 bolt to remove the shoe axle.
Remove tensioner shoe.
Check plastic cover for damage and wear, replace if necessary.
Install the shoe between the cylinder block and the drive chain, tighten the mounting bolt until it stops, then wrap the plug with a new sealing ring.
Install the sprocket on the camshaft, tighten the sprocket mounting bolt and, holding the shaft from turning, tighten to 100 Nm. When assembling, pay attention to the alignment of marks on the chain and sprockets.
