Checking the operation of the windshield washer nozzle heater

When the ignition is turned on, the electric heating of the washer nozzles built into the hood begins. If you look at the wiring with the hood open, you can see the heater connector.

Sequence of works

1. Disconnect the plug and connect an ammeter between the terminals of the connector.

2. With the ignition on, measure the passing current, setting its measurement range to about 0.3 A. For normal heating of the injectors, the current should be approximately 0.1 A. The magnitude of this current is determined by the resistance of the heating coil, made of a special cold-conducting material.

3. Blow out clogged injectors with compressed air. In most cases, this can be done using a car pump or a simple ball chamber. To blow out the injectors, disconnect the washer fluid supply hose. If clogging occurs frequently, you can insert a suitable gasoline filter into the fluid supply line to the injectors.

The nozzles should be installed so that the holes are directed above the middle part of the glass (Fig. 3.14), then even in the intensive wiper mode, the glass will be washed effectively. If the jets are directed too low, then in the frequent wiper mode the liquid will not have time to wash the entire working surface of the glass.

Noise and squeak of the glass cleaner

The reason for the squeaking of the glass wiper is the discrepancy between the angle of the brush and the angle of the glass, so when working in one direction or another, the brush fits the surface differently. This defect can be corrected by bending the lever. If this does not bring results, you need to contact a car repair shop, where they will use a special measuring tool to determine the angle of inclination and adjust the wiper blades with a guarantee.

When installing the nozzles, use a pin or thin paper clip. Carefully insert it into the nozzle nozzle and turn the nozzle to the desired angle.
