Windscreen wiper motor terminals (Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210)

0
To control the operation of the windshield wiper gear motor, it is important to know what functions each of its terminals performs.

Functions of the gearmotor terminals:

1. Terminal 15 R – voltage supply when the ignition key is in the "I" position from fuse No.3.

2. Terminal 31 – connection to engine ground.

3. Terminal 31 b – main wiring. It sends a signal from the windshield wiper motor whether the wiper blade is stationary or moving across the glass.

4. Terminal 53 has several functions. First of all, it supplies voltage for the first speed of the wiper arm. Secondly, when the windshield wiper is turned off, additional voltage is supplied through it so that the windshield wiper returns to its original (rest) position, with the exception of the combination switch. Thirdly, from the relay, this terminal switches to "ground" when the windshield wiper reaches the rest position (except for the combination switch). In this case, the windshield wiper motor is blocked.

5. Power is supplied to terminal 53 b of the gear motor if the second speed of the windshield wiper is switched on.
