1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

2. Remove the lower instrument panel trim on the driver's side.

3. Pull back the carpet under the pedals and cover the floor with rags to collect any fluid that has leaked from the hydraulic clutch system.

4. To reduce fluid loss, use a clean syringe to pump out as much fluid as possible from the corresponding chamber of the brake system reservoir so that the fluid level drops below the connection of the clutch master cylinder feed hose.

(Article was obtained from the portal: «mercedesman.ru»)

5. Carefully remove the brake pedal return spring (see fig. Brake pedal fastening elements).

6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake light switch, then remove the brake light switch from the bracket.

7. Remove the cotter pin from the pin that connects the brake pedal to the brake booster pushrod, then remove the pin.

8. Remove the four nuts securing the pedal bracket to the front of the engine compartment bulkhead and the bolt securing the bracket to the front of the bulkhead (see fig. Location of nuts securing pedals to engine compartment bulkhead, Location of bolt securing pedal bracket to upper part of engine compartment bulkhead).

Caution: The nuts that secure the pedal bracket also secure the brake booster.

9. Move the pedal bracket away from the engine compartment bulkhead, remove it from the struts, lower it down and disconnect the hose from the clutch master cylinder.

10. Remove the bracket with pedals from the vehicle interior.

Installation

1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.

2. Check and, if necessary, adjust the position of the brake light switch.

3. Bleed the hydraulic clutch system.
