A - cotter pin; B - pin with a head; C – an electric socket of the stoplight switch; D - return spring bracket
Arrangement of nuts of fastening of pedals to a partition of a motor compartment
Bolt location of the pedal bracket to the top of the bulkhead of the engine compartment
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Remove the trim on the bottom of the instrument panel on the driver's side.
3. Peel back the carpet under the pedals and cover the floor with rags to collect fluid that has leaked from the hydraulic clutch system.
4. To reduce fluid loss, using a clean syringe, pump out the maximum amount of fluid from the appropriate chamber of the brake reservoir so that the fluid level drops below the clutch master cylinder supply hose connection.
5. Carefully remove the brake pedal return spring (see fig. Elements of fastening of a pedal of a brake).
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake light switch, then remove the brake light switch from the bracket.
7. Remove the cotter pin from the pin connecting the brake pedal to the brake booster push rod, then remove the pin.
8. Remove the four nuts securing the pedal bracket to the front of the bulkhead and the bolt securing the bracket to the front of the bulkhead (see fig. The location of the nuts for fastening the pedals to the bulkhead of the engine compartment, The location of the bolt for fastening the bracket of the pedals to the top of the bulkhead of the engine compartment).
Attention! The nuts securing the pedal bracket also secure the brake booster.
9. Move the pedal bracket from the bulkhead of the engine compartment, remove it from the racks, lower it down and disconnect the hose from the clutch master cylinder.
10. Remove the bracket with pedals from the car.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.
2. Check and, if necessary, adjust the position of the brake light switch.
3. Bleed the air from the clutch hydraulic system.
