Removing the Front End of the Exhaust Manifold from the Cylinder Head on a 3.0L DOHC Gasoline Engine
Exhaust manifold for 6-cylinder 3.0L turbocharged diesel engine
1. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands.
2. Unscrew the nuts and remove the U-bracket that secures the exhaust pipe to the transmission bracket (see fig. An arrangement of nuts of fastening of a reception exhaust pipe to an arm of a transmission).
3. Remove the bolts securing the exhaust manifold bracket to the transmission (see fig. Arrangement of bolts of fastening of an arm of a reception exhaust pipe to a transmission).
4. On models with 6-cylinder SOHC petrol engines, unscrew and remove the heat shield from the underside of the manifold.
5. Using a jack, support the front of the exhaust system with the jack and disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.
6. On models with gasoline engines, remove the air filter.
7. Mark the location of the mounting bracket and unscrew the tube for the dipstick to measure the oil level. On models with a fuel injection system, unscrew the air nozzle from the exhaust manifold and move it to the side. On EGR models, unscrew the EGR valve and remove the pipes from the exhaust manifold.
8. Unscrew nuts of fastening of a final collector and remove a collector from racks of a head of the block of cylinders. Remove the exhaust manifold gasket. On models with 6-cylinder engines, the exhaust manifold consists of two parts. On diesel engines with a turbocharger, two parts of the exhaust manifold are connected by a pipe (see fig. Removing the Front End of the Exhaust Manifold from the Cylinder Head on a 3.0L DOHC Gasoline Engine, 3.0L 6-Cylinder Turbo Diesel Exhaust Manifold). Loosen the connecting pipe clamps and separate the two parts of the exhaust manifold.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points.
2. Being careful and using a plastic or wooden scraper, clean the mating surfaces of the exhaust manifold and cylinder head.
3. On 6-cylinder SOHC gasoline engines, the flanged lip of the intake manifold gasket must face towards the manifold.
4. Use new nuts on the exhaust manifold mountings.
