Removing
1. Raise the front of the car and support it on stands (see "Vehicle lifting and jacking up").
2. Loosen the nuts of the brackets securing the downpipe to the mounting bracket on the gearbox (see fig. 4.2).
Pic. 4.2. Loosen the nuts securing the exhaust pipe to the bracket (shown by arrows)
3. Turn away bolts of fastening of an arm to a transmission and remove an arm (see fig. 4.3).
Pic. 4.3. Turn away bolts (shown by arrows) mounting bracket to gearbox
4. On models with a 6-cylinder gasoline engine, unscrew the bolts and remove the heat shield from the bottom of the manifolds.
5. Support the downpipe on a movable jack, then loosen and remove the downpipe-to-manifold bolts.
6. Lower the jack to disengage the downpipe and manifold connection and remove the spacers.
7. Where provided, to improve access to parts, remove the air cleaner - refer to the appropriate part Chapters 4.
8. Loosen and remove the nuts that secure the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Where provided, unscrew the bolts and remove the upper part of the guide tube from the engine, noting the location of the clamp (see fig. 4.8, a-c). On models equipped with an auxiliary air inlet, remove the bolts and air inlet nozzle from the exhaust manifold and move the air tube to the side.

9. On models equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation system, unscrew the bolts and remove the EGR valve and system tubes from the manifold.
10. Remove the manifold from the cylinder head studs and remove the gasket. Please note that on 6-cylinder engines, the exhaust manifold is divided into two halves. To allow the manifold to be separated when removed, loosen the clamps on the connecting tubes.
Installation
11. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, taking into account the following points.
- A) Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the manifold and cylinder head, being careful not to scratch them.
- b) On 6-cylinder engines where separate gaskets are installed on each individual exhaust port, the folded gasket surface must face the manifold. Please note that the gasket for the 6th cylinder has an additional hole).
- V) Use new manifold nuts.
