Lifting the car with a jack and placing it on supports (Mercedes-Benz C-Class W201)

0
The jack supplied with the vehicle's tool kit should only be used to change wheels - see Changing Wheels at the start of this manual. For any other work, raise the vehicle using a hydraulic jack. Always use jack stands under the jacking points on the sills to support the jack. To raise the front of the vehicle, place the jack under the engine cradle at the front centre. Place a block of wood on the jack head. Raise the vehicle to the required height and support it on jack stands, positioning them under the front rubber cushions, which are located directly under the jacking holes in the sills (see diagram).

The car can be supported on rubber pads (A) which are located directly under the jack holes (B)

To raise the rear of the car, place a jack with a wooden spacer under the final drive. Raise the car to the desired height and support it on jack stands, positioning them under the front rubber cushions, which are located directly under the jack holes in the sills.

The jack included with the vehicle is installed in special holes in the body sills. Unscrew the plugs and insert the jack into the hole in the sill until it stops. Before you begin lifting the vehicle, make sure that the jack head is installed correctly. Never work under, next to or near a raised vehicle unless it is securely supported in at least two points.
