Attention! The jack serves only to raise the car for a short time, and is not a reliable and safe support for long-term repairs.
Support legs
Pic. 2.22. Locations for support legs
For safety when working with a partially raised vehicle, support legs of different sizes are used. For most jobs, two of these racks are sufficient. When purchasing racks, pay attention to the dimensions of the base, it is desirable that it is not too small to transfer pressure to the ground. Places of installation of basic racks on the car are shown in fig. 2.22.
Pay attention to the fact that during installation the stand rests exactly on the rubber cushion of the corresponding threshold in order to avoid damage to it. As an intermediate pad, you can additionally use a dry board or hard rubber.
Attention! It is important that one of the three legs of the rack is exposed to the side of the body, otherwise, when the car is rolling, the rack may move and tip over.
The pin used to adjust the height of the rack must be pushed into the hole until it stops and locked with a pin.
Jacking
1. The vehicle must be on firm ground. Before starting work, open the trunk.
2. Set the parking brake and put wedges under the wheels of the car (in their absence - suitable items: bar, brick, etc.). The parking brake cannot be relied on alone, as it must be released for some jobs.
3. Using a screwdriver, remove the plastic plug from the slot under the door sill.
4. The jack is located under the spare wheel in the trunk. To bring the jack into working condition, first use the handle to unscrew it until it stops with the ground, and then adjust it so that it stands vertically under the lifting point.

5. Install the car jack only in the special slots on the door sills (fig 2.23). In this case, the jack bracket must be pushed all the way into the receiving socket.

6. When lifting the car with a garage jack, the lifting stop of the jack should rest against the bottom only through a rubber cushion or a wooden block (pic. 2.24), to avoid bottom damage.
7. Pay attention to the location of the support legs when lifting your vehicle. The support leg is securely installed with one leg pointing outward and the other two toward the middle of the vehicle. Otherwise, when the vehicle is lifted, the support leg on the other side will move sideways.
