Cruise control actuator

Removal

1. The cruise control system actuator is mounted on the side of the cylinder block.

2. On most models, the air cleaner housing must be removed to access the actuator. To further improve actuator access, apply the parking brake, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it on jack stands. Remove the screws and remove the engine splash shield.

3. Remove the ground cable from the battery. Disconnect the actuator electrical connector located on the wiring harness.

4. Using a screwdriver blade, remove the tie rod from the actuator ball joint.

5. Unscrew the nuts securing the actuator bracket to the cylinder block and remove the actuator together with the bracket.

6. If necessary, unscrew the bolts and remove the actuator from the bracket. In doing so, mark the location of the rubber pads and gaskets.

Installation

1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. When installing the actuator, check the condition of the rubber cushions. If necessary, the length of the rod can be adjusted by loosening the lock nut and screwing or unscrewing the ball joint from the rod. After adjusting the length of the rod, tighten the lock nut.

Cruise control switch

The cruise control switch is an integral part of the steering column multi-function switch.
