Special tools that need to be used to remove the Mercedes-Benz unit on later models

2. On early models (until September 1990) release the lower fasteners and remove the radio from the socket and disconnect the electrical connectors and antenna from it.
3. On later models (since September 1990) to remove the radio, you need to use special tools (see Fig. Special tools required to remove Mercedes-Benz unit on later models). Insert the special tools into both sides of the radio, release the lower clips and remove the radio from the socket, then disconnect the electrical connectors and antenna from it.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Becker Block
Using steel rods to remove a Becker block

2.Carefully remove the trim panel from the radio.
3. Insert 1mm diameter steel rods into the holes on both sides of the radio, release the clamps and remove the radio from the socket (see Fig. Using steel rods to remove the Becker block). Disconnect the electrical connectors and antenna from the radio.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
CD player
1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
2. Remove the screws securing the CD player to the bracket, then remove it and disconnect the electrical connectors from it.
3. Remove the spare tire, then unscrew the bolt and remove the CD player bracket.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Amplifier
1. Remove the ground cable from the battery. Remove the trim on the right side of the luggage compartment.
2. On Station Wagon models, remove the protective cover to access the amplifier.
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the amplifier, then remove the screws and remove the amplifier from the bracket.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
