Caution! To remove the rear hub bearing, use a hydraulic press and tubular mandrels of the appropriate diameter. If you don't have a press, you can use a large bench vice. The inner bearing rings are pressed onto the hub sleeve. If the inner bearing ring remains on the hub sleeve when you remove the bearing, you must use a puller to remove this ring.
1. Remove the rear hub fastener.
2. Using the appropriate mandrels, position the hub retainer on the hydraulic press table and carefully press the hub out of the bearing. If the inner bearing race remains on the hub sleeve, remove it using a puller.
3. Remove the bearing retaining ring from the hub fastener.
4. Place the hub retainer on the hydraulic press table and, using a tubular mandrel of the appropriate diameter, press the bearing out of the hub retainer.
5. Clean the bearing seat in the hub fastener and remove any burrs using sandpaper. Check the condition of the bearing retaining ring and replace it if necessary.
6. Apply a thin coat of motor oil to the outer bearing race.
7. Place the bearing on the hub retainer and, using a tubular mandrel resting on the outer bearing race, press the bearing into the seat until it stops.
8. Secure the bearing with a retaining ring. Make sure that the retaining ring is firmly seated in the groove of the hub fastener.
