Caution! When removing the rear suspension spring, it is necessary to use a special tool to compress the spring and hold it in this position while removing the spring.
Removal
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and secure it on stands. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.
2. Using a special device, compress the spring so that it moves away from the top. When using a special device for compressing springs, make sure that the spring coils are firmly grasped and compress the spring from opposite sides. The spring has a very high compression force, so use only a very reliable tool. Never tie the spring with wire.
3. Unscrew the screws and remove the protective cover from the base of the lower rear suspension arm. Support the lower rear suspension arm with a jack through a wooden block.
4. Remove the nut and pivot bolt that secures the rear lower control arm to the rear subframe. Also remove the nut and pivot bolt that secures the stabilizer bar link to the lower control arm.
5. Carefully lower the rear lower control arm enough to allow the spring and upper plate to be removed.
6. Inspect the coil spring and upper support cup for signs of wear, damage or corrosion and replace if necessary.
Installation
1. Check and, if necessary, clean the lower spring support cup, then install the spring with the upper cup in place.

2. Rotate the coil spring so that its lower end is correctly positioned in the lower spring seat. Position the upper spring seat under the mount and carefully lift the lower rear suspension arm.
3. Check that the spring is positioned correctly, then insert the lower arm pivot bolt. Screw a new nut onto the pivot bolt, but do not tighten it completely. Install the stabilizer bar link bolt, screw a new nut onto it and tighten it to the required torque.
4. Remove the jack from under the rear lower control arm, then remove the spring compressor.
5. Install the wheel, then lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel bolts to the specified torque.
6. Rock the car to get the spring and lower arm into place, then tighten the pivot bolt nut to the specified torque. Install the protective cover on the base of the lower arm and secure with screws.
