To achieve uniform braking on both sides, the brake discs must have identical friction surfaces in terms of their appearance and roughness. Therefore, it is necessary to replace or grind both brake discs on the same axle.
Caution! If the brake discs need to be replaced or ground, new brake pads must be installed at the same time.
Removal
1. Mark the position of the wheels relative to the hubs with paint. This will allow you to install the balanced wheels in their original position during assembly. Loosen the wheel mounting bolts before jacking up the car. Raise the car, place it on stands and remove the wheels.
Attention! The operation of lifting and installing the car on stands is associated with danger! Therefore, before carrying out the operation, read the Section Jacking and towing Introduction to the manual.
2. Remove the brake pads, refer to the relevant section.
3. Remove the caliper, refer to the relevant section.
Note: There is no need to remove the brake hose.
4. Suspend the caliper so that the brake hose is not twisted or stretched.
5. To prevent the brake piston from slipping out, clamp a wooden block between the piston and the caliper.

6. Rear wheel brake: Release the parking brake completely. Turn back the adjusting device of the parking drum brake. To do this, insert a screwdriver through the threaded hole for the wheel mounting bolts. Right wheel: Turn the adjusting gear (1) from the bottom up with a screwdriver. Left wheel: Turn the adjusting gear (1) from the top down with a screwdriver.

7. Loosen the locking screw (1) and remove the brake disc (2) from the hub.
Note: Remove a firmly seated brake disc from the hub using light blows from a plastic hammer or a puller.
Installation
1. If there is rust on the brake disc flange and front wheel hub, remove them.
2. New brake discs: Remove the protective coating from the disc using a rag and thinner.
3. Rear wheel brake: If a used disc is installed, wipe the surface of the parking brake shoe and visually inspect it. Check the ease of movement of the parking brake shoe release lock.
4. Install the brake disc on the hub and secure it with a new self-locking bolt. Tighten the locking screw to 10 Nm.
5. Rear wheel brake: Adjust the brake mechanism. To do this, insert a screwdriver through the threaded hole of the wheel mounting bolts. Right wheel: Turn the adjusting gear (1) from top to bottom with a screwdriver. Left wheel: Turn the adjusting gear from bottom to top with a screwdriver. Turn the adjusting gear until the brake pads rest against the disc and the rear wheel stops rotating. Then slowly turn the adjusting gear back so that the wheel can rotate freely. Make sure that the gear on the right and left sides of the wheel is turned back by the same number of teeth.
6. Reinstall the caliper, refer to the relevant section.
7. Install the brake shoe, refer to the relevant section.
8. Reinstall the wheels so that the marks made during removal match. Pre-lubricate the centering belt of the wheel disk on the hub with a thin layer of bearing grease. Do not lubricate the wheel mounting bolts. Replace rusty bolts. Tighten the bolts. Lower the car onto the wheels and tighten the bolts crosswise to 110 Nm.
Caution: Make sure that the front brake hose does not touch the wheel when the steering wheel is turned to its maximum angle.
Press the brake pedal hard several times until you feel a noticeable resistance. This way the brake pads fit the disc and take their working position.
9. Rear wheel brake: Apply the parking brake several times and check its adjustment. If necessary, adjust the brake, refer to Section Checking the brake system. Adjusting the parking brake.
10. Carefully break in the new brake pads. To do this, brake the car several times from 80 km/h to 40 km/h, pressing the brake pedal lightly. Let the brake cool between braking. Do not brake the car hard for the first 200 km of driving unless necessary.
Attention! After installing new brake pads, they must be run in. In this case, be sure to monitor the road situation. When driving on the highway, avoid unnecessary braking for the first 200 km.
Conduct a reliability check:
- Are the brake hoses secured?
- Is the brake hose secured in the holder?
- Are the air bleed nipples tightened?
- Is there enough brake fluid?
- With the engine running, check for leaks. To do this, press the brake pedal with a force of 200-300 N (20-30 kg) for 10 s. The pedal should not weaken. Check all connections for leaks.
