Parking and locking the car (Mercedes-Benz Vito W639)

Caution: Remove the key from the ignition only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.


Parking brake



To park the vehicle, use the parking brake (see above)

Blocking the engine start in a car with a manual transmission



Engage first gear or reverse gear.

Turn the key in the ignition switch to the position 0 and extract it.

The start interlock device is enabled.

Blocking the engine start in a car with automatic transmission



Move the automatic transmission control lever to the position R.

Turn the key in the ignition switch to the position 0 and extract it.

The start interlock device is enabled.

Caution: On steep slopes, turn the front wheels toward the edge of the pavement.

Turn the steering wheel until the steering wheel lock mechanism locks it.

Note: Removing the key from the ignition switch of a vehicle with an automatic transmission is only possible if the gear selector lever is in the position R and the brake pedal is not pressed.


Locking the car with a key



Pressing the lock button on the remote control causes the door lock buttons to drop down. The direction indicators will flash three times. The doors, tailgate/boot lid and fuel filler flap are also locked.
