Checking the Power Steering Fluid Level
1. Remove cap 1 from the power steering fluid reservoir (see figure 1.34). Check the cover seal for damage and replace it if necessary.
2. Check the fluid level at a temperature of 20°C, which should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks.
3. Adjust the liquid level by adding or sucking it out.
4. Tighten the cap of tank 1.

Checking the condition of the steering gear
5. Check the free play of the steering wheel (see figure 1.35). Turn the steering wheel from left to right from start to finish. If the free play is greater than the permissible limit, check the free play of the steering rods and correct it. Allowable stroke: 30 mm.

6. Visually check the steering rods and ball joints 1 for damage and correct fastening. Check the runout of the ball joints by pressing and pushing them in different directions with your hand. If the runout is greater than the permissible limit, they must be replaced. Permissible runout is 2 mm.
7. Check the rubber boots of the ball joints 1 (see figure 1.36). Check the covers for damage and correct installation of the contact surfaces. Replace ball joints with damaged boots.
8. Visually check the protective covers of axle shafts 2 for damage and correct installation. Replace them if necessary.
