Removal



1. Remove the camshaft.

2. Remove the camshaft pulley.

3. Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC.

4. Remove the glow plugs.

5. Remove the hydraulic compensators 1 with a magnetized puller (figure 2.14).

6. If the cylinder head is removed, bolt the shield to the cylinder head (arrows) (figure 2.15a).

7. If the cylinder head is not removed, insert the locking wheel 01 (figure 2.156).

8. Insert guide sleeve 11 into the hole for the hydraulic compensator, screw the retainer with the support bearing with the retaining fork 17 into the threaded hole of the cover mounting bolt and align them (figure 2.16).

9. Install the thrust fork 6 with the lever 3 (figure 2.17).

10. Insert chuck 9 into guide sleeve 11. Attach thrust fork 6 to mating bearing 18 and rotate chuck mounting pin 9.

11. Press lightly with the stop lever 6 and after a while slowly turn the corrugated bolt in the chuck 9 (arrow) until the internal punch with jaws engages with the crackers.



12. Lightly press the corrugated bolt of the chuck 9 with your thumb and press the stop fork 6 down until it comes to a complete stop (figure 2.18). The crackers are removed automatically.

13. Loosen the thrust fork 6 and remove it.

14. Remove cartridge 9 with the removed crackers.

15. Check that the crackers are in the chuck 9, if not, repeat operations 10 to 13 again (figure 2.19).

16. Remove guide bushing 11.

17. Remove the upper spring retainer 3 and spring 4 (figure 2.20).

18. Using pliers, pull the valve stem seal 5 outward (figure 2.21).

19. Remove the lower spring retainer, check for corrosion and replace if necessary. Check the valve stem for corrosion and replace if necessary.

Installation



20. Install protective cover 12 on valve stem 6 and oil recess (figure 2.22).

21. Insert the new valve stem seal 5 into the punch and press it in until it stops.

22. Remove the protective cover 12.

23. Insert the spring and upper spring retainer.

24. Insert guide sleeve 11 into the cylinder head (figure 2.16).

25. Insert cartridge 9 with crackers into; guide sleeve 11, attach thrust fork 6 to bearing 18 and install it with slight pressure on the two mounting bolts of cartridge 9 (figure 2.23).

26. Press down the thrust fork 6 (arrow). Lift the corrugated bolt 9 up (arrow), this will relieve the pressure of the thrust fork (the crackers should set).

27. Check that the crackers are installed correctly 9 (figure 2.24). If not, repeat the procedure described in p. 3-8 and 19-21.

28. Remove all additional equipment from the cylinder head.

29. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
