Vehicle Maintenance Chart (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 903)

0
At the Mercedes branded service station, maintenance work is divided into five categories. For the vehicles described in this manual, the period for TO-1 is every 15,000 km or once a year. Particular attention should be paid to the list of additional works, which is given below in a separate category. After the second year of operation or at a mileage of 30,000 km, the same work is carried out according to TO-1, but with the specified additional work. After a mileage of 60,000 km, an additional list of works is also added.

The maintenance work listed here, written in normal font, is described in detail in this manual or is simple. The work highlighted in font can be done independently with some tolerance, or it requires a special tool that is only available at a service station.

In addition to the prescribed routine maintenance work within the established timeframes, there are a number of other activities that must be carried out regularly so that serious faults can be detected in a timely manner at the stage of their occurrence. These activities are also listed below.

1. The following should be checked regularly:
  • Windshield washer fluid
  • Windscreen wiper and washer
  • Engine oil level
  • Coolant level and top up as needed
  • Power steering reservoir level
  • Tire pressure
  • Brakes
  • Brake fluid level
  • Side lights, low beam and high beam
  • Rear lights and fog lights
  • Brake lights and direction indicators
  • Emergency alarm
  • Sound signal

2. Every 15,000 km (or annually) it is necessary to carry out (in addition to the above) the following works:

  • Change engine oil
  • Replace the oil filter
  • Carry out lubrication work
  • Replace the brake fluid yourself or have it done at a service station
  • Clean the gutters yourself or have it done at a service station

3. Every 30,000 km (or once every two years) it is necessary to carry out (in addition to the above) the following works:
  • Check the toxicity of exhaust gases when the engine is idling
  • Clean the air filter
  • Check the belt drive at the front of the engine
  • Check the tightness and serviceability of the brake system
  • Check the brake system components underneath the vehicle for possible leaks
  • Check the wear of the front brake pads. If they are badly worn, also check the wear of the rear pads. Before installing the wheels, clean the inside of the rims
  • Check the tightness and serviceability of the exhaust system
  • Check and adjust the parking brake if necessary
  • Check the brakes on the stand
  • Check the condition of the suspension yourself or at a service station
  • Check the steering yourself or at a service station
  • Check the condition of the tires. If necessary, rearrange the wheels
  • Check the seat belts yourself or at a service station
  • Check the serviceability of all control lamps and instruments
  • Check the windshield wiper and washer
  • Check the initial position of the brushes and their condition
  • Tighten the wheel bolts
  • Check the density of the electrolyte in the battery (if necessary) and add distilled water if necessary
  • Check the coolant level and antifreeze density, top up if necessary
  • Inspect the engine and engine compartment for oil leaks, loose fasteners, connections, pipes, etc.
  • Add fluid to the washer reservoir
  • Check the clutch operation (possible problems will most likely be known before work begins)
  • Check the wear of the steering rod ends, the condition of the mudguards and protective sleeves
  • Check for oil leaks in the engine, gearbox, reduction gear, steering, etc.
  • Check the brake fluid level, especially if increased wear of the front brake pads is detected
  • Check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir
  • Check the oil level in the differential
  • Check the oil level in the manual transmission
  • Replace coolant
  • Check the condition of the lower engine protection. If necessary, repair

4. Every 60,000 km (or once every four years) it is necessary to carry out (in addition to the above) the following works:

  • Replace the working fluid and filter in the automatic transmission
  • Replace the fuel filter
  • Check clutch wear yourself or at a service station
  • Check the cardan shaft yourself or at a service station
