Removal and installation of the generator — removal and installation (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 903)

Removal and installation of the generator should be carried out in the following order:
  • disconnect the negative terminal from the battery;
  • place the car in front on supports;
  • unscrew the engine protection from below to gain access to the components;
  • loosen the drive belt tension (see section "Cooling system") and remove it from the generator pulley;
  • disconnect both wires from the back of the generator;
  • unscrew the two generator mounting bolts from the front side and remove them;
  • pull the generator down.

Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Tighten the generator mounting bolts to a torque of 42 N·m. Tighten the nut of the "small" terminal ("61/D+") to a torque of 5 N·m, and the nut of the "large" terminal ("30/B+") to a torque of 18 N·m.

Install the drive belt and tension it as described in section. "Cooling system".

After installation, enter the radio code (if there is one) and set the time.
