On vehicles with the M 102 engine, the water pump and generator are driven by a V-belt.
1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
2. Loosen the nuts of the generator bracket mounting bolts.
3. Move the generator towards the engine by loosening the upper bolt securing the generator to the tension bar.
4. Remove the belt.
5. To install the belt, move the alternator away from the engine and tighten the upper alternator mounting bolt to the tension bar until the belt deflection when pressed with your thumb is 1 cm, or adjust the belt tension with the Krikit device.
