It should be noted that at the same time as replacing the camshaft, it is necessary to replace the valve rockers. If, as a result of the check, an increased clearance in the camshaft bearings is revealed, it is possible to grind the shaft journals to a repair size. In this case, two repair sizes of the shaft journals are provided.
Before dismantling the cylinder head, do the following:
Unscrew the temperature and other sensors from the cylinder head.
Loosen and remove intake and exhaust manifolds.
Remove the rocker arms as described below.
Remove spark plugs.
Remove remaining parts from cylinder head.
Remove the camshaft housing, for which unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the housing together with the camshafts.
Pull the camshafts back out of the housing. Removal and installation of the camshaft housing and camshafts can be done without removing the engine from the vehicle. These works are described in section 3.11.
To remove the valves, a puller similar to that shown in fig. 22 puller for eight-cylinder engine. Valve crackers are removed with tongs.
In the absence of a valve puller, the cylinder head is placed on a workbench with a split surface down so that there is a stop under each valve to prevent valve movement. Then, on the valve disc, put a pipe section of a smaller diameter than the outer diameter of the valve disc, and by hitting the pipe with a hammer, release the crackers from the groove on the valve stem, the crackers will be in the pipe. Remove the pipe and collect crackers.
Remove the spring plate and valve springs.
Using a screwdriver or pliers, carefully remove the valve stem seals from the valve guides.
Remove the valves from the guides and put on them cardboard tags with a serial number designation.
Remove the key from the camshaft and remove the distance ring.
