Put protective covers on the fenders of the car to avoid damage.
Raise the hood to a vertical position. Release the locking lever on the left bracket of the hood and lift the hood up until the lever disengages. Then release the locking lever on the right hood bracket (pic. 54).
Pic. 54. Opening the hood at an angle of 90°.
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Open the radiator cap. Coolant temperature must not exceed 90°C
Unscrew the plug at the bottom of the radiator and drain the coolant.
Disconnect the pipes from the oil cooler and from the transmission cooler and plug the holes in the pipes to prevent oil leakage.
To facilitate draining the coolant, unscrew the plugs on the cylinder block.
Slide the fan shroud onto the fan and remove the radiator together with the oil cooler.
Loosen the central mounting bolt and remove the fan.
On vehicles with air conditioning, remove the compressor and set it aside with hoses.
On vehicles with adjustable wheel suspension, unscrew the four bolts securing the suspension hydraulic pump (see fig. 55) together with the connecting pipes, remove the pump and lay it aside. Remove pump drive parts.
Pic. 55. The arrows show the bolts of the adjustable wheel suspension hydraulic pump.
Disconnect the fuel drive linkage.
Suck the oil out of the power steering reservoir and disconnect the hoses from the power steering pump.
Disconnect all hoses and pipes of the cooling system, lubrication system, power supply system and wires between the vehicle body and the engine.
Disconnect wires from starter and alternator.
Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the engine manifold and disconnect the pipe mounting on the gearbox.
Loosen the front engine mount bolts.
Disconnect driveshaft. If necessary, loosen the clamping nut and intermediate bearing mounting bolts. Push the cardan shaft back as far as it will go.
Disconnect the transmission control links and reverse light switch wire.
Attach a lifting cable to the engine and put it on the hook of a crane or other lifting device. Tighten the cable slightly.
Unscrew the bolts securing the rear cross member to the vehicle body and securing the rear support to the cross member and remove them.
Disconnect the clutch control hose from the pipeline and plug the hole in the hose and pipeline.
Carefully lift the engine by tilting it at an angle of approximately 45°. Remove the power unit from the engine compartment. Work on lifting the engine should be carried out slowly with constant monitoring, make sure that there are no connected wires or pipelines.
