Examination
Engine air inlet temperature control unit (in the cold engine start position)
1 – thermostat; 2 – thrust; 3 – spring; 4 – additional spring; 5 – damper; 6 – air filter; 7 – cold air supply channel; 8 – heated air supply channel; 9 – thermostat air compensation channel; A – fresh cold air supply; B – supply of heated air from the exhaust manifold
1. Remove the air supply pipes to the engine from the air filter housing.
2. Unscrew the screws and remove the air temperature control unit entering the engine from the air filter housing. Disconnect the heated air supply pipe from the bottom of the unit (see picture).
3. Using a hair dryer, direct a stream of warm air to the thermostat at the rear of the temperature control unit and observe the damper through the holes on the front side of the casing. After the thermostat warms up to a temperature of 30°C, the thermostat will move the damper through the draft and close the flow of heated air to the engine. Otherwise, replace the thermostat.
Replacing the thermostat
1. Remove the housing from the engine air intake temperature unit and carefully remove the thermostat and disconnect it from the rod. When installing a new thermostat, move the rod with the spring into the housing, then insert the thermostat, then release the rod and check that it is correctly aligned with the working end of the thermostat.
2. Install the engine air temperature control housing in the reverse order of removal, then connect the engine air supply pipes.
