Examination
Air intake temperature control unit (in cold start position)
1 - thermostat; 2 - thrust; 3 - spring; 4 - additional spring; 5 - damper; 6 - air filter; 7 - cold air supply channel; 8 – heated air supply channel; 9 - air compensation channel of the thermostat; A - supply of fresh cold air; B - heated air supply from the exhaust manifold
1. Remove the engine air pipes from the air filter housing.
2. Unscrew the screws and remove the engine air temperature control unit from the air filter housing. Disconnect the heated air supply pipe from the bottom side of the unit (see picture).
3. Using a hair dryer, direct a stream of warm air at the thermostat at the back of the temperature control unit and observe the damper through the openings on the front of the casing. After the thermostat has warmed up to a temperature of 30°C, the thermostat will move the damper through the rod and close the intake of heated air into the engine. Otherwise, replace the thermostat.
Thermostat replacement
1. Remove the casing from the engine air temperature unit and, being careful, remove the thermostat and disconnect it from the rod. When installing a new thermostat, move the rod with the spring into the casing, then insert the thermostat, then release the rod and check that it is correctly aligned with the working end of the thermostat.
2. Install the engine air temperature control cover in the reverse order of removal, and then connect the engine air supply pipes.
