Removal

Removal the air filter element


1. Remove the air intake pipe from the air cleaner housing.



2. Remove the warm air supply pipe from the base of the engine air temperature controller.

3. On models with a STROMBERG carburetor, loosen the clamps and remove the pipe connecting the air filter and the carburetor (see fig. Loosening the clamp securing the air supply pipe to the carburetor, Loosening the clamp securing the air supply pipe to the air filter housing, Removing the air supply pipe from the air filter to the carburetor).

4. On models with a PIERBURG carburetor, unscrew the nut securing the air supply pipe to the cylinder head cover.

5. Remove the crankcase ventilation hose from the fitting at the bottom of the air cleaner housing.

6. Disconnect the fastening brackets, unscrew the nuts and remove the air filter cover. Remove the filter element. Unscrew the nuts and screws and remove the air filter housing (see fig. Unscrewing the air filter cover mounting nuts, Removing the air filter element). On models with PIERBURG carburetor, remove the rubber seal.

7. On later models with STROMBERG carburetors and an air cleaner with external brackets, unscrew the nuts and remove the lower part of the air cleaner from the brackets.

Installation



1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Check that the filter element is installed in accordance with the marks on the filter element.
