Removing the air filter element
1. Remove the air intake duct from the air filter housing.
2. Remove the warm air duct from the base of the engine intake air temperature controller.
3. On models with a STROMBERG carburetor, loosen the clamps and remove the pipe connecting the air filter and the carburetor (see fig. 4. On models with a PIERBURG carburetor, unscrew the nut securing the air supply pipe to the cylinder head cover.
5. Remove the crankcase breather hose from the fitting at the bottom of the air filter housing.
6. Disconnect the mounting brackets, unscrew the nuts and remove the air filter cover. Remove the filter element. Unscrew the nuts and screws and remove the air filter cover (see fig. Unscrewing the nuts securing the air filter cover, Removing the air filter element). On models with a PIERBURG carburetor, remove the rubber seal.
7. On later models with STROMBERG carburetors and an air filter with external brackets, unscrew the nuts and remove the lower part of the air filter from the brackets.
Installation
1. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Check that the filter element is installed in accordance with the marks on the filter element.
