Several modifications of crankshaft pulleys / torsional dampers and hubs are installed on the engines. On early models, a crankshaft pulley / torsional vibration damper and a hub were installed in the form of a single block, which was attached with a single central bolt. On later models, the crankshaft pulley / torsional vibration damper is made as a separate part, which is bolted to the hub.

Removal
1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.
2. Open the hood and secure it in a vertical position.
3. Remove the radiator fan impeller and hydraulic clutch.
4. Loosen the radiator fan pulley mounting bolts.
5. Remove the auxiliary drive belt.

6. To avoid damage to the radiator and to increase the working space, remove the radiator or, as a last resort, install a sheet of cardboard on the inside of the radiator.
7. Unscrew the radiator fan pulley mounting bolts and remove the pulley.
8. Remove the bolts and crankshaft pulley/vibration damper.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Hub - models with separate pulley and hub
Attention! When tightening the hub mounting bolt, it is necessary to use a torque wrench that provides a tightening torque of 400 N/m. To remove the hub from the crankshaft, it is necessary to use a puller.
Removal
Using a special tool to prevent the hub from turning

Removal the hub assembly with the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper from the front end of the crankshaft

1. Remove the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper.
2. Secure the hub from turning using a special tool screwed to the hub (see fig. Using a special tool to prevent the hub from turning).
3. Unscrew the hub mounting bolt and remove it along with the four spring washers or large conical washer.
4. Using a puller, remove the hub from the front end of the crankshaft (see Fig. Removing the hub assembly with the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper from the front end of the crankshaft).
5. Remove the woodruff key from the crankshaft groove.
Installation
Location of disc washers on hub mounting bolt

1. Install the woodruff key into the crankshaft keyway.
2. Align the groove on the hub with the woodruff key and install the hub onto the crankshaft.
3. On models with Belleville spring washers, lubricate the spring washers and install them on the bolt with the convex side facing the bolt head (see fig. Location of disc washers on the hub mounting bolt).
4. On models with a conical washer, install the washer onto the larger diameter bolt towards the hub.
5. Lubricate the threads of the mounting bolt.
6. Using a special tool, secure the hub from turning and tighten the hub mounting bolt to the required torque.
7. Install the crankshaft/vibration damper pulley.

7. Unscrew the radiator fan pulley mounting bolts and remove the pulley.
8. Block the engine crankshaft from turning. On models with threaded holes in the crankshaft pulley, secure the pulley from turning by screwing a special tool to the pulley.
9. If there are no threaded holes in the crankshaft pulley, block the crankshaft from turning using the teeth of the flywheel ring gear.
10. Unscrew the hub mounting bolt and remove it along with the four spring washers or large conical washer.
11. Using a puller, remove the hub from the front end of the crankshaft.
12. Remove the woodruff key from the crankshaft groove.
