1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

2. Remove the air filter.

3. If equipped, remove the wiring harness cover from the engine.

4. Loosen the clamp and remove the crankcase ventilation hose from the left side of the cylinder head cover (see Fig. Removing the crankcase ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover on models with the CIS fuel injection system).

5. Press the retaining clips and remove the distributor housing from the cylinder head cover (see fig. Removing the distributor housing on models with the CIS fuel injection system).

6. Remove the screws and remove the spark plug cover from the cylinder head cover (see fig. Unscrewing the spark plug cover mounting screws, Removing the spark plug cover from the cylinder head on models with the CIS fuel injection system).

7. Mark and remove the spark plug wires (see fig. Removing high-voltage wires from spark plugs on models with CIS fuel injection system). Remove the high-voltage wires from the mounting brackets on the cylinder head cover.

8. Gradually and evenly unscrew the cylinder head cover mounting bolts. While doing this, mark the location of the bolts, as they are of different lengths (see fig. Unscrewing the cylinder head cover mounting bolts on models with the CIS fuel injection system).

9. Remove the cylinder head cover from the cylinder head (see Fig. Removing the cylinder head cover on models with the CIS fuel injection system).

10. Remove the cylinder head cover gasket and seal from the spark plug holes in the center of the cover.

Installation

1. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head cover and the cylinder head. Check the condition of the cylinder head cover gasket and seals and replace them as a set if necessary.

2. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
