Examination
1. Remove the cylinder head cover and radiator fan shroud.
2. Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC and check that all the timing marks are aligned with the pointers.
3. Check that when the camshaft sprocket controlling the intake valves is turned clockwise until it stops, the governor mechanism is in the "full reduction" position.
4. Otherwise, adjust the original position of the camshaft.
Adjustment
1. Turn the crankshaft until the 30° BTDC mark is aligned with the crankshaft angle sensor bracket.
2. Remove the drive chain tensioner mechanism.
3. Remove the upper drive chain cover.
4. Remove the camshaft sprocket that controls the exhaust valves.
5. Using a spanner, turn the camshaft by the flats to a position where the lower edge of the mounting hole in the camshaft flange aligns with the upper plane of the cylinder head. To check the installation, insert a 4 mm diameter steel rod into the mounting hole.
6. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the CNC mark on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the crankshaft angle sensor bracket.
7. Manually turn the camshaft adjusting mechanism that controls the intake valves clockwise until it stops.
8. Install the drive chain onto the intake camshaft sprocket and check that the chain is correctly positioned on the lower chain guide.
9. Without turning the camshaft, install the camshaft sprocket that controls the exhaust valves.
10. Install the upper drive chain cover.
