1. Remove the ground cable from the battery. On 4-cylinder gasoline engines, drain the coolant from the cooling system, remove the radiator and air filter.

2. Remove the auxiliary drive belt from the water pump pulley.

3. Unscrew the central mounting bolt and remove the radiator fan from the water pump shaft (see fig. Tightening the central bolt of the radiator fan clutch, Unscrewing the central bolt of the radiator fan).

4. Remove the bolts and pulley from the water pump (see Fig. Water pump pulley mounting bolt locations).

5. On early models, remove the three bolts securing the clutch housing to the water pump, remove the clutch, disconnect the electrical connectors, and remove the clutch from the engine compartment (see fig. Location of left electromagnetic clutch mounting bolts on early models, Location of electromagnetic clutch mounting bolt on early models).

6. On later models, remove the mounting bolts on the rear of the electromagnetic clutch housing that secure the clutch to the bracket. Remove the electromagnetic clutch, disconnect the electrical connectors, and remove the clutch from the engine compartment.
