1. Prepare the vehicle (see Removal and installation front suspension springs, Checking, removing and installing shock absorbers, Removal and installation the front anti-roll bar, Removal and installation the front suspension assembly and Removal, installation and adjustment of the hub and front wheel bearings) and remove the wheel.
2. Loosen the bolt securing the steering arm to the lower part of the steering knuckle.
3. Remove the brake caliper.
4. Remove the front wheel hub.
5. Place a jack dolly under the lower suspension arm, loosen the upper ball joint nut and use a puller to separate the upper suspension arm.
6. Loosen the lower ball joint nut and use a puller to separate the steering knuckle from the lower suspension arm.
7. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the brake disc shield from the brake cam.
8. Conduct a defect inspection of the ball joints, paying special attention to their axial play. Replace damaged covers and fill the joints with new grease.
9. If the lower ball joint is worn out, it must be replaced; if the upper ball joint is worn out, the upper suspension arm assembly must be replaced.
The steering knuckle is installed in the reverse order of removal.
