Note: When measuring the height of the body and adjusting the installation angles of the front wheels, it is necessary to use special equipment from the company "Mercedes-Benz".
1. In the engine compartment, unscrew the nuts securing the shock absorber to the upper body support and remove the washer and rubber bushings.
2. Apply the parking brake, raise the front of the car and support it with chocks. Remove the wheels.
3. Compress the spring with a jack trolley, placing it under the lower arm.
4. Install a spring compressor onto the spring, which should grip nine turns of the spring.
5. Compress the spring from both sides. To facilitate compression, you can use a jack installed under the lower arm.
6. Lower the suspension arm and remove the spring from the vehicle along with the upper mount rubber cushion.
7. Turn the rubber cushion to the left and remove it. Place the spring longitudinally between the jaws of the bench vice and gradually loosen the clamping bolt of the device
8. Clean the upper and lower spring supports and make sure the drain hole in the lower support cup is not clogged.
9. Conduct a defect inspection of the clean spring and, if necessary, replace it with a suitable one. It is recommended to replace both springs at the same time.
10. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. In this case, you should make sure that the lower coil of the spring is installed in the groove provided for it in the lower support cup. When tightening the shock absorber mounting nuts, the front suspension must be loaded with the weight of the car.
