In the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the front axle has a so-called double wishbone.
The wheels are mounted on two triangular levers: the upper lever is connected to the body through rubber supports, the lower lever is fixed to the axle beam. Both levers lead the steering knuckle through the hinges. The spring and gas shock absorber are mounted separately from each other on the lower suspension arm. Unlike conventional designs, the shock absorber is not used as the leading suspension element, which ensures timely response and smooth running. The anti-roll bar ensures that the front wheels have better grip on the road, especially when cornering.
The front wheels are on two tapered roller bearings with adjustable clearance.
