The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has a so-called double wishbone on the front axle.
The wheels are mounted on two triangular levers: the upper lever is connected to the body via rubber supports, the lower lever is fixed to the load-bearing beam of the bridge. Both levers lead the steering knuckle via hinges. The spring and gas shock absorber are fixed separately from each other on the lower suspension arm. Unlike conventional designs, the shock absorber is not used as the leading element of the suspension, which ensures timely operation and smooth running. The anti-roll bar provides better grip of the front wheels with the road, especially on turns.
The front wheels stand on two tapered roller bearings with adjustable clearance.
