Attention! Prolonged skin contact with used motor oil is quite dangerous. Use barrier cream and wear gloves during this procedure. Change oil-soaked clothing immediately.
Recommendations:
Frequent engine oil changes are the number one preventive maintenance procedure available to the amateur mechanic. Over time, the oil is susceptible to dilution and contamination, which leads to premature engine wear.
Engine oil can be pumped out using a special probe (available at petrol stations) through the oil dipstick tube. After that, it is usually necessary to fill the system with oil.
Do not dispose of used oil with household waste or in any other way. This may cause environmental pollution.
When changing the oil, it is advisable to attach a tag to the engine with the brand of oil and its viscosity.
The use of oils of various types adversely affects the operation of the engine. It is also not recommended to mix different brands of oils. Engine oils of the same type and brand, but of different viscosities, can be mixed if necessary, in particular in the off-season.
Required tool:
- Inspection ditch or hydraulic lift with stands (if the oil is not being sucked out).
- Head for unscrewing the drain plug.
- Special tool for unscrewing the filter (filter wrench, strap wrench or tool HAZET 2172).
- Oil collection tank (if the oil is not being sucked out) with a capacity of at least 6 liters.
Necessary spare parts and consumables:
- Only if oil is not being sucked out: aluminum or copper O-ring for drain plug (sometimes supplied with an oil filter).
- Oil filter.
- Required amount of engine oil. Use manufacturer approved oil, refer to Specifications.
Removal of impellent oil
Engine oil can be removed by suction, through the dipstick hole, or drained from the oil pan.
A suitable pump is required for suction. When doing this, make sure that the hose fits the hole and is of sufficient length.
Attention! If the oil is sucked off, please note the special notes at the end of the section.
Note. The volumes given in the Specifications are approximate. In any case, it is necessary to check the oil level using a dipstick or indicator on the dashboard. The description below applies primarily to the gasoline engine. Differences for the diesel engine are given at the end of the Section.
1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature. To do this, start the engine and wait for the coolant temperature on the dashboard to reach normal values or for the radiator hose to warm up. After that, drive at least 5 km so that the engine oil temperature reaches the set value.
2. Remove the engine top cover.
3. Unscrew the oil filter cap (1) with HAZET 2169 key (2) and 27 mm heads. The illustration shows the 611 engine.
4. Remove the oil filter cover with filter element.
5. Suck out the oil using a special device through the hole for the level indicator.
Attention! For engine 111.955, comments are given at the end of the Section.
6. If an oil suction device is not available, drain the oil. To do this, place the car horizontally on stands or over a viewing ditch.
Attention! The operation of lifting and placing the vehicle on stands is dangerous! Therefore, before carrying out the operation, read Section Jacking and towing Introduction to leadership.
7. Remove the bottom cover of the engine compartment, refer to Section Removal and installation of a cover of an impellent compartment from the bottom.
Attention! Make sure that when turning out the drain plug, hot impellent oil does not get into your palms.
8 Remove the plug (1) drain hole from the oil pan (2) and let the oil drain completely.
9. Screw in the plug with a new gasket and tighten to 30Nm.
10. Remove the container with the drained oil from under the engine.
Attention! If a large amount of metal chips and wear products are found in the engine oil, this indicates the possibility of scuffing, for example, damage to the crankshaft bearings and connecting rods. To eliminate the consequences of damage after repairing the engine, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the oil channels and hoses. In addition, if there is an oil cooler, it must be replaced.
11. Reinstall the bottom cover of the engine compartment, refer to Section Removal and installation of a cover of an impellent compartment from the bottom.
12. Lower the car on wheels.
13. Replace O-ring (3).
14. Insert a new filter element into the cover.
15. Screw in the screw cap with a new O-ring and tighten to 25Nm.
Oil filling
1. Open the lid (1) and fill in new oil through the pipe of the cylinder head cover. (2) - oil level indicator.
Attention! It is recommended to first add ½ liter of oil less than necessary, warm up the engine and after a few minutes check the oil level using a dipstick (2), add oil if necessary. Excess oil must be sucked off, as otherwise the gaskets or seals of the engine and the catalytic converter may be damaged.
2. Replace the engine top cover.
3. Drive the vehicle and check the drain plug for leaks. Tighten the plug carefully if necessary.
4. After 2 minutes after stopping the engine, check the oil level again, correct it if necessary.
Engine 111.955: Please note the following when extracting oil:
5. Before suction, disconnect the hose between the oil separator and the level gauge guide tube using a clamp, eg HAZET-4590.
6. Suck out the oil.
7. Remove the clip.
Attention! Don't forget to remove the clip as it will otherwise, the separated oil will not drain into the oil pan, it will be sucked in by the engine and the air mass meter will be clogged.
