Checking engine compression (Mercedes-Benz Vito W638)

1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature of approximately 80°C.

2. Remove the injectors and disconnect the fuel lines.

3. Rotate the engine crankshaft with the starter several times without starting it to remove the remaining exhaust gases from the combustion chamber.

4. Attach the compression gauge 7 (see figure 4.62).



5. Turn the engine crankshaft with the starter approximately 8 times, measure the compression in the desired cylinder and compare it with the table (see table 4.2).

6. After taking measurements, disconnect the compression gauge 7, install the injectors and connect the fuel lines.
